The Das Schaffers philosophy is sustainable and green! In our family-run business, we believe that it is important to act responsibly and conscientiously. Our decisions are taken with the criterion of sustainability in mind. With our many sustainability-oriented measures designed to reduce and prevent environmentally harmful emissions, we are making a voluntary contribution that brings added value.
The food products used in our establishment are predominantly sourced from regional producers. We attach great value to serving seasonal, home-made products. In the buffet, only very few products are presented in individual packaging. Any leftover food is collected by organic waste disposers and all our waste is sorted.
Wherever possible, we work together with local partners. This keeps the value-added local and ensures short transport paths. Our wine list only contains regional wines and spirits.
Sustainability is becoming ever more important for German winegrowers. “Our” vintners from the wine-growing regions of Württemberg (Kocher-Jagst-Tauber district) and Baden (Tauberfranken district) all understand the constant need to attach equal importance to ecological, economic and social aspects in their winemaking activities. If you would like to visit one of these wineries, please contact them directly - they’ll be delighted to see you!
Environmentally friendly, sustainable tourism is a trend which is increasingly determining our guests’ choice of holiday destination. We have committed ourselves to monitoring the relevant data in the ecological, economic and sociocultural fields and pursuing a policy of continuous improvement. This reflects a philosophy which guests at the hotel DasSchaffers can always sense, experience and even taste.

Viabono (in English: “the path to goodness) was founded in 2001 on the initiative of the German Environment Ministry and Federal Environment Agency. Viabono is currently the number one certification for tourism service providers that demonstrate a clear commitment to the environment and climate in their business activities. It focuses primarily on the hospitality sector.
The concepts that underpin Viabono establish an intelligent balance between reliability, expertise and credibility, on the one hand, and practice-oriented pragmatism, on the other. The guiding principle is: “Ecology and the economy go very well together and often complement one another outstandingly well. This is why Viabono has earned widespread acceptance not only in the tourist industry but also among the environmental associations. You can find the certificate here.
The issues of environmental and climate protection have also grown in importance in the hospitality sector. Consumers and guests have become more critical and more sensitive. The “DEHOGA Umweltcheck” environmental inspection involves the evaluation of a number of selected environmental criteria. The list of criteria covers the following four areas: Energy consumption, water consumption, waste generation / residual waste and food (e.g. regional, fair trading practices, organic).
We were awarded this certification at GOLD level in September 2019! Come and see for yourself!

The hotel possesses a separate cabinet where e-bike riders can recharge their electric batteries. This makes recharging even safer and, most importantly, it takes place outside of the room!
